Part of the recommended daily morning routine, called ‘dinacharya,’ includes oil pulling.

In Ayurveda this practice is called ‘kavala’ or ‘gundusha.’ The founders of Ayurveda knew the importance of a detoxifying morning routine to clean up stored toxins overnight, which we are only beginning to discover when all the modern medicines are failing.

There are thousands of articles explaining how oil pulling is good for oral health, but it is much more than that. when practiced properly and regularly it can cure more than 30 types of ills, and the best part is the cost of this method is cheaper than pills you need to take for health. I’m so convinced with the claims because I’ve felt the miraculous benefits of oil pulling by myself.

Important: Coconut oil is sometimes solid at room temperature (depending on the temperature of your pantry), but it will emulsify in your warm mouth quite quickly.

First-day oil pulling might trigger the gag reflex, so if you can’t make it the full 20 minutes, start by swishing for as long as you can and add 1 minute each day.

If you’re the multitasking type, try oil pulling while you are in the shower or making your bed in the morning, or reading your morning newspaper. Just be sure to spit the used oil in the trash or paper towel rather than the sink or toilet because oil can solidify and clog pipes.

Remember to Be gentle and slow — no need to be as aggressive as you are with mouthwashes, as you will be doing it for 20 minutes and don’t want to get a sore jaw!
